Students organize cancer awareness campaign

In an effort to support and raise awareness of cancer, SEGi’s School of Allied Health Sciences Class of Co-Curriculum Management joined hands with the counselling unit of Student Affairs Division to organize a campaign “Spread the Hope, Join the Fight” on June 15.

A group of 15 Diploma in Medical Laboratory students through numerous efforts in the past three weeks have successfully raised funds for National Cancer Council Malaysia (MAKNA).

MAKNA is a not-for-profit social enterprise founded by Dato’ Mohd Farid Ariffin officially launched in 1995 aimed at helping cancer patients, regardless of their background, race, creed and colour.

It was a fun-filled and informative campaign as visitors get to learn about the disease by checking out the exhibition booths and also through a talk conducted by cancer survivor A.S.Dass.

Dass is also the current president of Prostate Cancer Society Malaysia. Throughout the day, there were also other activities such as basic health screening and mini charity sales hosted by MAKNA.
