SEGi University recently won a gold and two bronze medals at the Sukan Institusi Pengajian Tinggi (SUKIPT).
The event was organised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) in collaboration with Higher Education Institutions Sports Council (MASUM, MSP, MASKOM and MASISWA). SUKIPT is held biennially with the alternate of Malaysia Education Institutes Sports Carnival (SIPMA) every other year.
International sportsmen from South East Asia countries also participated in the event. The organiser has added several categories for special needs athletes in the fourth edition of the event. SUKIPT serves as a platform for the ministry to develop sports at Higher Education Institutions, National and International levels.
SEGian Preyancli competed in the Karate event and emerged champion in the category. She walked away with a gold medal. Preyancli fought hard in four rounds with the following scores:
|1st match||:||won over Universiti Teknologi Petronas(UTP) by 9-6 points.|
|2nd match||:||won over Universiti Penguruan Sultan Idris (UPSI) by 13-7 points.|
|Semi-finals||:||won over Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) by 5-1 points.|
|Finals||:||won over Taylor’s University by 4-2 points.|
Meanwhile, two other SEGians won bronze medals in bowling and taekwondo categories respectively. Kudos to the trio!
