SEGi University offers new undergraduate programme in architecture

The Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment (FoEBE) of SEGi University, Kota Damansara has launched a new undergraduate programme in architecture commencing from academic year 2017.

The programme, Bachelor of Science (Hons) Architecture has a progressive coursework as well as theoretical classes to equip students with the latest developments in architectural and design industries.

Taught by dedicated and passionate lecturers, these educators are also practicing architects certified by Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) Pt 2, thus, enabling them to share their industry knowledge and experience with the students.

Also present during the launching ceremony were renowned local architects – director of Hijjas Kasturi Associates Sdn, Ar. Serina Hijjas and representative from the Malaysian Institute of Architects who is also the managing director of AR RAD ARCHITECTS PLT, Ar. Adrianta Aziz.

Serina with over 20 years of experience in architectural planning and design was present and delivered a talk on “Architecture for Sustainability and Future Trends”. Her architecture/design firm has been one of the leading architectural practices in Malaysia, notable for designing some of the nation’s most iconic buildings such as Tabung Haji, Menara Telekom and the Securities Commission.

The event also saw guests from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL), Public Works Department and AJM Planning & Urban Design Group. Prof Ramlan Abdullah, a senior lecturer of UiTM generously sponsored two table sculptures as souvenirs for Serina and Adrianta.

The FoEBE is among the largest faculties in SEGi University with approximately 1,300 students. Apart from architecture, the faculty offers a wide range of programmes in various areas which are automotive engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, electronic & electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and quantity surveying.
