They had fun and they reaped the rewards. More than 30 primary six pupils of SJK(T) RRI Sungai Buloh enjoyed learning English in a fun and colourful way under a programme known as Rainbow Road To Success.
The learning programme was devised by a group of trainee teachers from the Faculty of Education at SEGi University.
Over the course of one month, trainee teachers who are currently pursuing Bachelor of Education (Hons) put their skills and knowledge to the test by coaching the pupils in English.
They have also set up various English testing stations to ignite the pupils’ interests in learning, which are aimed at improving the latter’s reading and comprehension, grammar and sentence construction.
According to Professor Dr Mogana Dhamotharan, the pupils involved in the programme have shown improvements within a short span of time. “Some have grown by leaps and bounds,” added.
The learning materials and resources were handed over to the teachers in the primary school to facilitate the pupils in their day-to-day English Language lessons.
SEGi takes education beyond the classroom. In line with this approach, the Rainbow Road To Success was organized to enable the trainee teachers to better understand their duties and responsibilities.
The handover ceremony also saw the top five pupils walking away with prizes and rewards, for their tremendous improvement in the language.
