Ten (10) dental students along with two (2) lecturers, Dr. Avita Rath and Dr. Neeraj Malhotra from the Faculty of Dentistry, SEGi University Kota Damansara participated in a collaborative oral health education programme with the Faculty of Education, and the Faculty of Optometry and Vision Science.
This event held on April 2 was aimed at raising awareness of oral health for pupils from SK (Asli) Bukit Kemandol, Kuala Langat, a school for Orang Asli children.
The programme involved oral health education to 150 children / adolescents, aged between four (4) and 15.
Teachers accompanied their pupils for the oral health interactive sessions which included a demonstration of tooth brushing technique, good diet for dental caries prevention and control, quiz, art and craft, as well as a colouring contest.
Each child was given a bag consisting of food, drinks, toothpaste, toothbrush and stationeries provided by the dental students.
Winners of the quiz, drawing and maze competitions were given toys and stationeries. This campaign was a U4 activity by dental students of the Faculty of Dentistry, SEGi University.
