FOBAM lecturers and students lend a helping hand to orphaned children

Academic team members and students of Faculty of Business, Accounting and Management (FOBAM) at SEGi University Kota Damansara recently organised a month-long charity drive collection for Diamond Children Home in Klang.

The charity drive organised by FOBAM students and academic team members, headed by its dean Dr. Sugumaran Selladurai was part of the SEGi Student Enrichment Programme.

Items and daily necessities collected were presented to the children’s home on March 31. Other good Samaritan-cum-co-sponsors were Director of Adrian Cakes House at Kapar, Norhayati Ahmad who sponsored cakes for the event, an anonymous Good Samaritan for the lunch sponsor, as well as Chairman of Rutra Transport, Moganeraja, for his cash contribution to the home.

Among items collected were food, clothes, toiletries, kitchen utensils, as well as books, toys and stationeries for children in the shelter.

During the event, the children also had fun as SEGi students cheered them up through interaction via games and other activities.

Each kid was later gifted with a goodie-bag specially prepared by the organizing team.

The organizing team comprised of senior lecturers Dilashenyi Devi Selvarajah and Muthaloo Subramaniam, as well as lecturers Ravindaran Seniasamy, Vijeyaletchumy Charde Singgaran and Sam Zhi Xi.

FOBAM at SEGi University is pleased as the event was featured in Tamil Nesan, a daily local newspaper on April 2 and was also broadcasted on TV3 on April 7.

The event has enabled the students to improve on their event organizing, leadership, teamwork and communication skills.

The faculty is glad that the event has achieved its objective to raise awareness among staffs and students on the importance of lending a helping hand to the underprivileged children.
