ONE-HUNDRED-AND-THIRTY trainee teachers from Early Childhood Club, SEGi College Kota Damansara (SCKD) had organized an unforgettable children’s day celebration for 450 pupils in SJK (T) RRI Sungai Buloh on November 15.
The colourful and joyous celebration was held in conjunction with the National Children’s Day which falls on November 20 annually.
This group of trainee teachers wanted to make a difference in the children’s life in promoting a safe environment to ensure children can grow up to be healthy and productive.
During the one-day celebration, trainee teachers set up activity booths, organized a colouring contest and interacted with the pupils through 27 games to raise awareness and provided them with tips to protect themselves while at the same time, promoted the importance of learning through play.
These SCKD trainee teachers had also raised RM6,700 for the primary school. Besides that, 100 sets of special gifts were prepared and given to the underprivileged children to ease their family’s financial burden and to promote the importance of education to all children.
Universal Children’s Day is celebrated on November 20 every year to promote togetherness and awareness among children worldwide. The theme for this year Children’s Day, Stop Violence Against Children! was set due to the rising number of child abuse cases reported nationwide.
Adults have the responsibility to protect the children as they are the most vulnerable group in the society. It is important for educators to stand up and protect the children’s rights.
The Faculty of Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) in SCKD offers a dual-degree programme in Education with four specialisations, which are Early Childhood Education, Special Needs Education, Teaching English as Second Language, and Guidance & Counselling; and Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
