SEGi College Kota Damansara’s American Degree Program (ADP) students organized the “Peace Campaign 2016” to raise awareness on non-violent conflict resolutions by creating the importance of sustaining peace in the world. The campaign took place on the 24th and 25th March 2016, at the lobby of the campus.
TThe campaign started with an eye-catching flash mob depicting a deadly terrorist scenario between a group of soldiers and civilians, to send out a strong message to the audience that violence will only breed violence, but peace will bring an end to violence.
The campaign then commenced with a mobile pledge board, a mini medical workshop, a donation drive booth, food stalls, a booth that sold beautiful homemade symbols of peace, an ‘Emotions-Darting’ booth to throw darts at negative words, and a series of poster exhibitions on non-violent conflict resolution. The campaign received support from the presence of several Non-Governmental organizations including Carefugees, Women’s Aid Organization (WAO), United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), and All Women’s Actions Society (AWAM).
The students managed to raise a handsome sum of RM 1,200.00 to be donated to Carefugees, an NGO providing care and support for the refugee committee.
Great job, ADP students, for creating such a noble event!
