SCATE 2017

The Faculty of Dentistry sent 3 student research project teams for oral presentations to the 24th MDA Scientific Convention and Trade Exhibition 2017 (24th SCATE 2017) organized by the Malaysian Dental Association (MDA). One student project, ‘Effects of delayed pouring on the dimensional stability of extended pour alginate under different storage condition: An In-vitro study’ presented by Final Year student, Fam Shen Deng, won 1st place for Best Oral Presentation with a cash prize of RM 1000 going against dental practitioners and postgraduate students.

 

Fam Shen Deng, also participated in the “DT Got Talent” competition and was one of 5 finalists winning a consolation prize.

DT Got Talent competition

Fam Shen Deng and Felicia How, both Year 5 dental students, represented the Faculty of Dentistry, SEGi University at the DT got Talent competition at the 24th SCATE 2017. Each participant sent photographs of a case with aesthetic restorations to SCATE. Our students were in the top 5 participants who entered the finals.

In the grand finale, participants were required to make a customized shade tab for a patient with fluorosis. They were given 40 minutes. Our students won the consolation prize of “SHOFU workshop certificate”.
