Language is not a barrier to do good deeds- Discover Humanity for Orang Asli

The students undertaking the B.Sc. (Hons) Quantity Surveying (BQS) programme at SEGi University Kota Damansara had visited Kampung Orang Asli Gurney, Ulu Yam to better understand the Orang Asli community. This project aims to encourage and educate students to have a greater community commitment.

The event “social responsibility service for perkampungan Orang Asli” was held on 22th August 2017 with the efforts of food distribution and other daily necessities to the community in the village.

The group of 45 students also brought along various construction materials and tools to repair the home of our Orang Asli and were involved in painting their wooden home, strengthening the foundation of the home through cement patching, reinforcing the pillars and fixing the steps of the house.

Their good deeds did not end there as the students returned several days later on 29th August 2017 and distributed groceries such as rice, flour and sugar to the villagers. They were joined by Hulu Selangor District Council (MDHS) councillor June Leow.

Kudos to the team who organised this event, with the help from Zamzarina Md. Judyar, Aminah Mohd Bakhari, AP Sr. Faris Omar, Amiza Abas and Nor Azizah Zalin for making this event a successful one! We look forward to contribute more towards the society.
