Learning the ropes of social media

SEGi University’s Faculty of Business Accounting Management students had the honour of meeting and listening to three renowned industry leaders in an enrichment programme held on May 22.

The event titled, “Social Media: A Great Platform for Entrepreneurs” provided opportunities for students to engage with the speakers – Sunway Group corporate adviser Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam, KAT Group of Companies executive chairman Datuk Khairol Anuar Mohamad Tawi and DHL Express Malaysia and Brunei managing director Christopher Ong.

During the four-hour event, the leaders shared their life experiences and journey throughout the years as they progressed through a successful career.

Apart from dishing advice and inspiring quotes, the speakers also used their unique ways of engaging with the audience.

The students were heard giggling as Ramon enchanted the students with humour and jokes. Khairol shared his experiences of building a business and divulged how he was on the verge of bankruptcy in 2004 due to challenges in his construction business.

Students actively participated in the question and answer session, particularly with Ong as SEGians were interested to join DHL as interns.

Contented smiles plastered on the students’ faces as the event came to an end around noon.
