A handful of blue balloons were released in the air at SEGi University to celebrate and commemorate the World Autism Awareness Month on April 26.
It is an annual event organized by SEGi to coincide with the worldwide celebration, celebrated on April 2 to raise the awareness of autism.
Organised by the Counselling Unit of Student Affairs Division and Faculty of Education, SEGi invited Marissa Ali, co-founder of Brightstars – Life Skills for Exceptional Kids, a holistic school for children with autism, ADHD and learning challenges for a sharing session.
During the sharing session, Marissa opened up about the challenges and struggles as a mother of two children who are recovering from autism.
She also shared her joy about her daughters’ road to recovery.
To coincide with the global initiative and theme “Light it up Blue”, 20 blue helium balloons were released into the air in front of the iconic “The Best in You, Made Possible” logo.
An exhibition was also put up to provide opportunities for visitors to learn more about autism spectrum.
